My name is Peter O’Leary and I am excited to be part of the team that will be leading secondary education in the South West of Hamilton. My deep connection with the Melville area began with Melville Football Club, continued with employment in the laboratory at Waikato Hospital and more recently as Deputy Principal at Melville High School.

I grew up in Ngaruawahia and have held a number of teaching positions from teacher, Dean, Faculty Leader and Deputy Principal in a range of schools including large urban, single sex, rural and small urban schools. Completing a Masters in Education has led me to engage in action research where theory meets the real world of teaching to enable student success. I am also a passionate sports fan and bring a wealth of experience in the football world.

Engagement with whanau and community is what I value the most along with watching students get the learning and awaken the light bulb moments. Helping students and staff to grow is what drives me to be the best with a strategic focus on teaching and learning to meet the needs and aspirations of our students, staff and community.

Its an honour and a privilege to to be part of the foundation team working to establish Mangakōtukutuku  College.
