Mangakōtukutuku College

Project Overview: 

In May of 2022, the Minister of Education announced that Melville High School and Melville Intermediate School would close at the end of 2023 and a new Year 7-13 College would open at the start of 2024.

An Establishment Board (ESB) was appointed by the Minister and they have the exciting challenge of leading the reset of education in the Melville area and making the new school, the school of choice. 

Extensive community consultation was carried out between 2019 – 2021 and The ESB are continuing their work on the important aspects of our new school such as, school vision and values and the uniform sub-committee are working through options for uniform. The Board are also working with Ngati Mahanga and Ngati Wairere on the cultural narrative for the school which will lead to the school name, logo etc.
