Position of Responsibility: Head Student
Being a Head Student at Te Kura Whaikaha is a role I take seriously. It’s not just about leading assemblies or wearing a badge, it’s about being someone others can look to for guidance, setting the tone for our school, and creating a space where everyone feels seen and supported. I try to lead by example, staying true to who I am and encouraging others to do the same.
Outside of my responsibilities at school, music plays a huge role in my life. It’s more than just a hobby, it’s something that helps me express emotions, clear my mind, and stay motivated. Whether I’m playing guitar, or just listening to my favourite songs, music gives me a sense of freedom and focus that I carry into everything I do. I also make time for the people and places that keep me grounded.
Being with my whānau and friends helps me stay balanced, and spending time in my home city reminds me of my roots and the values that shape who I am. All of these things such as leadership, music, and connection to people and places, help me grow and give back to our kura in a way that’s real and meaningful.

My name is Nydius I’m 17 and pretty chill, but don’t let that fool you. I’ve got a quiet drive that keeps me pushing forward, whether it’s goals I’ve set or things I’m passionate about. Being a student leader to me means showing up, listening, and setting the tone without needing a spotlight. I stay steady, focused, and handle things the Whaikaha way. No rush, no drama—just me and my team locked in and doing what needs to be done.
