Mangakōtukutuku College Phone Policy Reminder

As of April 2024, the New Zealand Government requires that all schools enforce a phone ban. This means that schools must ensure that students are not able to access their phones during the school day. More information on this government policy can be found here: Ministry of Education website.

Mangakōtukutuku College has always been a phone free school. Our phone policy can be found here:

Every student has been issued with a Yondr pouch and they are required to have their phone locked in their pouch for the duration of the school day. Loan pouches are available at the Collins Road Reception for any student who has forgotten their pouch for the day. Replacement pouches are available for a cost of $22. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call our Student Services team and we will get a message to your child. If your child needs to contact you during the day, they can go to Student Services and this can be arranged.

If students are found to have their phone out of their pouch it will be confiscated and held at reception. Our staff will notify you that the phone has been confiscated and your child will be able to collect it at the end of the day. A second offence will require you to come in for a meeting with a Senior Leader.
